Sheikh Zayed Road Walking Tour

Sheikh Zayed Road is one of the busiest highways in the United Arab Emirates. The road stretches over 80 kilometers from the city of Abu Dhabi to the city of Dubai.

The highway is named after the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan, the founding father and the first President of the UAE. The road was constructed in the early 1970s and has been continuously upgraded since then.

Today, Sheikh Zayed Road is a key economic artery of the UAE. It is home to some of the country’s tallest buildings and busiest shopping malls. The highway also connects Abu Dhabi’s Business District with the Dubai International Financial Centre.

While the highway is an impressive feat of engineering, it is also notorious for its heavy traffic. On an average day, the highway is used by over 200,000 vehicles. The resulting congestion often leads to long delays and even accidents.

In recent years, the UAE government has implemented a number of measures to improve the situation. These include expanding the highway, introducing smart traffic management systems, and increasing the number of public transport options.

Despite these efforts, traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road remains a major cause of concern for residents and commuters. With the number of vehicles on the road only expected to increase in the years ahead, it is clear that more needs to be done to ease the congestion.
