Madelyn Cline is an American actress. She is known for her role as Maddy Perez in the MTV series Outer Banks. Cline was born on December 21, 1997, in Charleston, South Carolina, to parents Michael and Nancy Cline. She has three older sisters, Lauren, Lindsey, and Ashley. Cline’s father is a judge and her mother is a doctor. She began acting at the age of seven in community theater productions.
In 2010, she made her television debut in an episode of Army Wives. Cline’s breakout role came in 2018, when she was cast as Maddy Perez in the MTV series Outer Banks. The show follows a group of teens who reside in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and embark on a treasure hunt for a missing stash of gold.
Cline has said that she relates to her character, who is “fearless” and “unapologetically herself”, and that she is “so grateful” to have the opportunity to portray her. In 2019, Cline starred in the psychological thriller film Ready or Not, opposite Samara Weaving. The film follows a young woman who becomes caught up in a deadly game of hide-and-seek on her wedding night.
Cline has said that the film is “a perfect blend of genres”, and that she enjoyed the challenge of playing a character with “so many layers”. Cline will next be seen in the upcoming Hulu series The Witch Who Came In from the Cold. The show is based on the book series of the same name by Zachary Boyden-Holmes, and follows a young witch who is recruited by the CIA during the Cold War.
